TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Tampa Fire Rescue crews responded to a 3-alarm fire at the Waterside Marriott Hotel on Thursday evening.

A fire rescue spokesperson said that workers had performed roof work earlier in the day and debris from the removal ignited and caused a fire on the roof.

Workers attempted to put out the fire with extinguishers, but were unsuccessful.

Firefighters arrived on scene and were able to quickly put out the fire, which was contained to a small area of the roof.

The hotel staff evacuated guests and no injuries were reported.

The fire marshal later gave the all clear for guests to return to their rooms.

A third alarm was called due to the size of the building and the number of occupants, according to a Tampa Fire Rescue spokesperson.
