Couple driving to their wedding killed in crash

Loved ones are mourning a New Jersey couple who died in a chain-reaction crash while on the way to their wedding.

Kathryn Schurtz and her fiancé Joseph Kearney were driving westbound on Interstate-78 in Pennsylvania Wednesday afternoon when the accident happened.

Traffic was heavy at the time due to an earlier crash.

A tractor-trailer was traveling westbound and was unable to stop for the traffic ahead.

It struck the couple’s vehicle, which was then pushed into the back of another tractor-trailer; setting off a chain reaction crash that consisted of three more tractor trailers.

Schurtz and Kearney were both killed in the crash while three other people were hurt.

Schurtz and Kearney were on their way to their wedding in Pittsburgh when the crash happened.

Kearney’s aunt, Mary Kay Heinle, wrote about the tragedy on her Facebook page, “They were truly the brightest shining lights snuffed out way too soon.”

Family memebers say a visitation will be held Monday followed by a mass on Tuesday.
