(WYFF) — A South Carolina mother was accused of fatally poisoning her 17-month-old child with salt this week.
The child was pronounced brain dead on Tuesday and died Wednesday afternoon, poisoned by excess sodium in the bloodstream.
Kimberly Nicole Martines, 23, told investigators she fed the victim a teaspoon of salt in the hopes of getting her husband back into her life.
She has been charged with homicide by child abuse.
