Combat medic receives Medal of Honor from President Trump

A member of the Secret Service was awarded the military’s highest honor on Monday for his service as an Army medic.

President Donald Trump awarded former Staff Sergeant Ronald Shurer II with the Medal of Honor during a White House ceremony.

Shurer fought his way up a mountain back in 2008 to render aid to fellow special forces members and their Afghan counterparts.

The Defense Department says his actions helped saves the lives of all of the wounded individuals under his care.

Shurer joined the Secret Service after leaving the Army.
