Shocking video out of a California high school shows an intense brawl between a teacher and student.
The incident happened earlier this week in a band class at Maywood Academy High School.
Video shows the teacher, identified as Marston Riley, deck the student in front a room full of students. Some of them started recording as the stunning fistfight unfolded.
As the video continues, the teacher appears to use an object to pummel the student. Others tried to help pull the student away but he couldn’t escape.
“I was just scared for the kid and partly for the teacher too,” one student who witnessed the fight said.
People who were in the room at the time say the fight began when the teacher told the student he wasn’t wearing the proper school uniform. The student then apparently responded with a racist and profane rant.
Parents who heard about the incident are furious.
“I’m shocked. Why did it have to escalate to this point?” one mother said.
Riley was arrested after the incident. The district did not release a statement, saying the issue is a personnel matter.
