A burglar was busted after he crashed his getaway golf cart into a pond, police said.
WESH reported that Lady Lake police found a golf cart partially submerged in a pond off Silver Oak Avenue.
While searching for the cart’s owner, officers learned that a nearby home had been broken into. Police said golf cart tracks were found in the front yard of the burglarized home.
After the cart was pulled from the pond, police were able to identify its owner as Michael Hawk.
Officers went to Hawk’s home on Debra Drive and found his wet clothing, a stolen television and a set of keys belonging to the residents of the burglarized home.
Hawk was booked into the Lake County Jail on a burglary charge.
