Broward deputies located 2-month-old who was inside stolen car

MARGATE, Fla. (WFLA) – Broward County Sheriff’s Office located a 2-month-old boy who was inside a stolen car on Saturday morning.

Officials say the child’s mother was driving in Margate when she stopped to speak with the manager of a business, leaving the infant in the car briefly. The child’s mother and the manager were standing next to the car when a man walked by, and noticed the engine was running, according to deputies.

The man then ran to the driver’s side and got behind the wheel. The woman’s daughter, 10, was also in the vehicle. She tried to get her brother out of the car as she was escaping.

Authorities say she wasn’t able to get him out in time, and the man took off with the infant inside.

BCSO identified the vehicle as a burgundy Nissan Murano with the license plate 048XEM.

Deputies said the baby was located safe before 3 p.m. Saturday.
