SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) – Two California brothers were in custody Thursday in the shooting deaths of their parents who emigrated from Bangladesh 30 years ago and often helped relatives make the same journey.
Police arrested 22-year-old Hasib Bin Golamrabbi and his17-year-old brother on suspicion of homicide after their mother and father were found slain Sunday in their San Jose home.
The teen’s name wasn’t released.
Relatives discovered the bodies of Shamima and Golam Rabbi but it was not clear how long they had been dead, police spokesman Sgt. Enrique Garcia said.
No further details were released.
The husband and wife often helped and hosted other relatives who came to the U.S. from Bangladesh.
Their nephew, Golam Mustakim, and his family emigrated from Bangladesh in 2000 and initially stayed with the Rabbis in their four-bedroom home.
It was not immediately clear if the suspects have attorneys.
Evergreen Islamic Center Mosque spokesman Faisal Yazadi did not know about the arrest of the younger son until notified by a reporter.
“This is one of those tragedies nobody ever wants to be in,” he said. “All we can do is pray. This is a family matter and a police investigation.”
The brothers were being held without bail. The older son is slated to be in court on Friday. An appearance date for the teen was not immediately available.WHAT OTHERS ARE CLICKING ON RIGHT NOW:
