TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was found in pond near West Fletcher and North Armenia Avenues in the Lake George area of north Tampa.
According to deputies, the body of an adult male was found around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies will not confirm the identity until it’s verified by Medical Examiner’s Office.
A representative with the Hillsborough Co. Sheriff’s Office said it appears the body had been in the water for a while.
The body was located in an area where a man went missing last Friday. Flyers of 82 year old Maynell Scott have been posted around the neighborhood.
Investigators said Scott left Belvedere Commons Assisted Living Facility Friday around 6:30 p.m. Detectives learned he left on foot in an unknown direction. Scott suffers from Dementia and Alzheimer’s.
