Tampa – One father and son left Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final without seeing any action, despite buying tickets.

“He saw a listing on craigslist for tickets in the 300 level for $225 each. I knew by looking at the tickets on the website those were at least $400 tickets,” Marc Rosenfeld said. Rosenfeld and his son then met the seller at a gas station where they gave him money, and the seller emailed the tickets. They didn’t know there was a problem until they arrived at the game.

“We got up to the gate and the lady, when she scanned them, she said this is the wrong date, but the date on the tickets said June 3rd,” Rosenfeld said.

That wasn’t the only set of fake tickets spotted by lightning officials.

The team recommends going through Ticketmaster Plus. Or, if you buy them on the street, the ticket office will scan your tickets at no charge so you can check to see if they are real.
