Last minute back to school preparations are underway in Hillsborough County.
Students are back to the books tomorrow and today the county is doing one last measure to make sure they’re ready for students. Today, drivers will learn their routes and do a practice run.
The Hillsborough County school system has been working hard all summer to get ready for the brand new school year. Prepping buses is no exception. This year, for the first time, all buses in Hillsborough County will have seatbelts. The buses are now new enough that the requirement applies. Some believe it’s a nice safety addition.
“We are encouraging students to use the seatbelts, we know that they are safe. We are also encouraging our parents to remind their students as they get on the school bus, put on that seatbelt. It is something they do in their own personal car so we are encouraging students to buckle up when they get on our buses as they head to and from school,” said Tanya Arja, Hillsborough County schools.
Drivers will be looking for construction and traffic problems to see if they’ll need to make any adjustments to their routes.
