JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) – Officials have identified a baby girl who was found alive inside a crashed car with a dead man and woman inside.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Chief Tom Hackney says the agency is working with the Department of Children and Families to reunite the child with relatives. She didn’t appear to have suffered any injuries and was found Wednesday evening.
The Florida Times-Union reports officers investigating an apparently accident found the victims. The man and woman had each been shot once. The 6-month-od child was in the back seat.
Hackney says it doesn’t appear to have been a murder-suicide. He says investigators believe the person who shot them may have also been inside the vehicle since no bullet holes were found on the car’s exterior.
