CAMP SPRINGS, MD (WFLA) – Joint Base Andrews in Maryland was thrown into chaos Thursday morning after a person mistakenly reported an active shooter during an active shooting drill, according to NBC News.

The base was placed on lockdown shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday while officials searched the Malcolm Grow Medical Clinic to ensure there was no active gunman.

There was a scheduled plan active shooter exercise on the base this morning. A few minutes after the exercise, an individual reported seeing two men carrying large guns – prompting the lockdown.

After a complete search of the area, law enforcement officials say they found no gunman.

In May, Joint Base Andrews was placed on lockdown after a woman walked up the base saying she had a bomb strapped to her. Officials found no explosives, and the woman was apprehended.
