Accused Haines City serial armed robber denied bond

BARTOW, Fla. (WFLA) – Accused serial armed robber Clemente Gandy will not be getting out of jail anytime soon. A judge revoked his bond Wednesday when Gandy appeared via video monitor from the Central County Jail on Wednesday.

Deputies say Gandy carried out a reign of terror in Polk and Osceola counties. Deputies said Gandy robbed seven stores in eight days. His face was seen all over surveillance video from each location.

“I’m happy they got him,” said Rakesh Rachaconda, a partner at a Marathon gas station Gandy is suspected of targeting during his spree. Rachaconda thought it was a joke at first, until he had to dodge a bullet.

“He doesn’t have mercy, nothing. Just shooting at people for a small amount of money, $10, $20. It’s not worth it,” the victim told News Channel 8.

He said he is relieved Gandy is behind bars but still has issues from that night. “It’s still in my mind. I lose my appetite, I lose my memories and everything. It takes time to get better, I know,” Rachaconda said.

Clerks and customers alike were terrified, never knowing when this guy would strike next. As it turns out, an alleged Friday robbery proved to be the final night for this accused gunman. News Channel 8 was there as a gas station became a crime scene.

Cops caught up with Gandy after he crashed his truck, allegedly running from them. And, after a short stay in an Osceola hospital, Gandy ended up back in Polk County behind bars.

News Channel 8 learned Gandy is already a convicted felon. He also has DUI charges pending. For the latest alleged robbery spree, he is facing multiple charges, including robbery with a firearm, which could carry a life sentence.WHAT OTHERS ARE CLICKING ON RIGHT NOW:
