ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) – The abused dog Khalessi who was found missing half of her nose and dragging her hind legs, is active and playful after all the procedures she had to go through after the rescue. But unfortunately, her cheerful demeanor is hiding a serious health problem.

We first told you about the brave pup in August 2015. The dog was found missing her snout, with fractures of her pelvis and limited use of her hind legs. You can read more about how she was located and taken to a rescue group in St. Pete here.
Khalessi underwent multiples surgeries and procedures at different animal clinics in our area but she kept her sweet demeanor and playfulness through the entire ordeal.

Khalessi’s caretakers Passion 4 Pits are now facing a tough dilemma – the dog’s kidneys are failing, they are not responding to the medications. Khalessi’s condition continues to cost the rescue between $500 on a normal week up to $2000 when she has a flare up and needs to be hospitalized.
Khalessi’s doctors mentioned a possibility of a kidney transplant but that complicated surgery is very expensive. The operation and post-operative care may cost around $20,000.
The second option the caretakers are considering is to just let Khalessi enjoy as much as she has left spoiling the playful sweet pup like a princess. Khalessi doesn’t look or act sick, she is active and playful and is always happy to meet new people.
