RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) – The Latest on the collision of two Navy fighter jets off the coast of North Carolina (all times local):

1:15 p.m.

Navy spokesman Ensign Mark Rockwellpate says two Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet jet fighters were on a routine training mission when they collided about 10:40 a.m. Thursday off Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.

Rockwellpate says four crew members were taken to the hospital in Norfolk, but he didn’t have information about the extent of their injuries.

He says a safety investigation will be carried out to determine what happened.

Coast Guard spokesman Petty Officer 3rd Class Joshua Canup says Coast Guard crews were notified about 10:30 a.m. Thursday of the collision. He says the four were plucked off a commercial fishing ship that pulled them out of the Atlantic Ocean and flown by Coast Guard helicopter to a hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.

The Coast Guard says two jets collided off the North Carolina coast and four survivors have been taken to hospitals.
