3 injured, including off-duty deputy, when car crashes into Pasco Co. home

HOLIDAY, Fla. (WFLA) – Three people were transported to a local hospital after a vehicle crashed into a home in Holiday on Thursday afternoon.

Pasco Fire Rescue crews responded to the home at 1217 Normandy Boulevard.

The drivers of two pick-up trucks and one passenger received medical attention after they collided at an intersection.

One of the trucks slammed in to the home, near an eight-year-old girl’s bedroom.

Two people inside the home, the eight-year-old girl and her grandmother were not injured.

“It was like something exploded, like BAM,” said Priscilla Hardy.

“I jumped up and she started screaming, so I went, because I knew it either hit the house or had came in the house, so I went and looked around the hallway and her window was open, and you just see the truck inside the room.”

The truck wedged itself in the front wall of the home.  The second truck ended up in a side yard.

A neighbor who heard the crash ran to help the driver get out.

She described his injury as a bad gash on his head.

Witnesses said the driver of one truck ran a stop sign and slammed into the other, which lost control and ran into the house.

A witness said the driver of one truck was doing at least 60 miles per hour.

Angel Medina was cited for running a stop sign.  He and passenger Victor Medina were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The other driver, Michael Samartino, an off-duty Pasco County deputy, also suffered serious injuries.

Over $20,000 in damage was caused to the home.

The incident is still under investigation.
