20 wells surrounding Land O’ Lakes sinkhole test negative for E. coli

LAND O’ LAKES, Fla. (WFLA) – The Pasco County Government’s Environmental Lab has confirmed 20 wells in and around the area of the sinkhole that swallowed two homes on Friday have tested negative for E. coli.

One hundred percent of the wells tested negative for E. coli.

The county is continuing to work with the Florida Department of Health on all well testing.

The Florida Department of Health is continuing to encourage residents to use bottled water, especially those within 500 feet of the sinkhole, until their water is fully tested.

If residents see their water become clouded or change in smell or taste, they should take precautions by using bottled water.

The DOH will be conducting additional tap water testing for 20 wells in the area of the sinkhole to test for contaminates such as metals, nitrates and arsenic.STORIES OTHERS ARE CLICKING ON-
