2-year-old drowns in North Port pool, police investigating

NORTH PORT, Fla. (WFLA) – Authorities are investigating a suspected drowning of a 2-year-old in North Port.

Police and fire rescue units were called to a home on Beaver Terrace around 11:30 a.m. Monday for the drowning. According to police, the young boy was found in the family’s backyard pool.

First responders rushed the boy to the North Port Emergency Room, but police say the boy did not survive.

The Criminal Investigations Division is looking into what happened. Police are calling it an active and ongoing investigation.
