BRANDON, Fla. (WFLA) – A woman is in critical condition after she was shot inside of a car in Brandon early Monday morning, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office officials said.
Deputies responded to the Walgreens at South Parsons Avenue near State Road 60.
A preliminary investigation shows a woman was shot inside of her car in the area of Kingsway Road and Clay Avenue at about 1:40 a.m. The car was then driven to the Walgreens, where the woman was found.
“The black vehicle that’s parked in the Walgreens, it drove up here and that’s when we received a 911 call,” said Maj. Frank Losat.
There were four others inside of the car and investigators believe the vehicle was targeted.
The woman was rushed to Brandon Hospital, then flown to Tampa General Hospital, where she remains in critical condition, Losat said.
The shooting is not believed to be related to a possible homicide in Plant City, police said.
“Overall, I think it’s a safe area,” said resident Leslie Allen. “I haven’t seen any issues in this area. I’ve been here for about two years and I haven’t had any issues,” she said.
