Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Deputies helped wrangle a 10-foot-long, 3-legged alligator that was discovered on the side of one of Pinellas County’s busiest roads Thursday morning.
Deputies responded to a call just before 8 a.m., about a gator on the side of the road near the intersection of Curlew and McMullen Booth roads.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesperson Gary Morse said the gator was not injured recently. The loss of one of its legs was from a previous injury.
Alligator trapper Captain Mike Amyx said the alligator was ten feet long and would be taken to a farm and would not be destroyed.
Morse said alligators are more active this time of year.
The Tarpon Springs Outfall Canal is near the area where the gator was captured.
