TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) —News Channel 8 is honoring Black History Month with a special presentation exploring hundreds of years of challenges, struggles and triumphs for Tampa Bay’s Black residents.
The hour-long special, “Rooted in Progress” will tell the stories of Tampa Bay’s past present and future, and residents continuous fight for equality.
WFLA’s Deanne King will host a panel discussion featuring Yvette Lewis, Chloe Coney, Terri Lipsey-Scott, David Christian, Tishuana Wilson, Rep. Fentrice Driskill, Chief Anthony Holloway, Councilmember Luis Viera, Dr. Lisa J. Martin, Henry Shake Washington, Councilwoman Deborah Figgs-Sanders and Commissioner Gwen Myers.
“Rooted in Progress” airs Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. on News Channel 8, and again on Feb. 25 at 11 p.m. on The CW Tampa Bay.
