Courtney Sexton is a second year graduate student at the University of Central Florida in the major of Health Administration. She plans to obtain a Master’s Degree and work as a health administrator in a children’s hospital. She represented Orlando and won the Miss Florida title on July 2, 2016 when she competed with 47 other young women competing for the job of Miss Florida. She won an educational scholarship of $21,700.00 to use for her higher education. At the Miss Florida Pageant, Courtney also won Quality of Life, Scholastic Achievement, Preliminary Swimsuit and Evening Wear. As Miss Florida 2016 she will travel the state promoting her personal platform of volunteerism, Get Up! Get Moving! Volunteer! Courtney represented Florida at the 2017 Miss America Pageant where she was awarded the non-finalist Interview award. She is a state ambassador for Miss America’s national partner, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals; serves as a literacy spokesperson for the Everglades Foundation advocating the protection and restoration of America’s Everglades; and as a spokesperson for Advanced Recovery Systems addressing a pressing topic among today’s youth: the danger of addiction and drug abuse.
Courtney’s honors at the University of Central Florida include Outstanding Graduating Student; Department of Health Management & Informatics; National Society of Leadership & Success; UCF President’s List; Gold Key International Honor Society; Alpha Delta Pi Honor Society; UCF Dean’s List; and Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Recipient. She served as President of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority; Ambassador – Knight Plaza; Executive Vice President ADPI UCF; Positive Points Chair ADPI UCFl; Morale Team, UCF KnightThon, and is a former in house volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House.
Courtney is from Starke, Florida, and is the daughter of Tim and Sherry Sexton.
