BeerFest 2017: Barley’s Angels

Evil villainess Hoppy vonKeggers is trying to steal all the beer at BeerFest 2017, hell-bent on rounding up recipes and creating her own ULTIMATE microbrewery. Luckily, the captivating crime-fighting trio of Amber, Blondie, and Honey – known to their foes as “Barley’s Angels” – are working alongside their ever-faithful assistant, Beersley, to stop vonKeggers and keep the community’s craft brews safe and sudsy for Tampa Theatre patrons to sample in a few weeks.Barley’s Angels, Tampa Theatre’s BeerFest 2017 fundraiser, will be kicking ales and taking names from 7:00-10:00pm Saturday, June 24. Like previous beer-soaked, tongue-in-cheek BeerFest events like The Brews Brothers, The Big Lebrewski and Hoppy Gilmore, Barley’s Angels will feature craft beers and local brewers, plus snacks and samples from some of Tampa’s top independent restaurants, including: BREWERIES

Those lists will continue to grow, say BeerFest’s real-life femme fatales, returning co-chairs Michelle Baker, owner-manager of The Refinery and Fodder & Shine; and Veronica Danko, owner of The Independent Bar and Cafe. And though the theme may be silly, BeerFest’s purpose is most serious: Now in its 6th year, the (almost) annual event is one of Tampa Theatre’s favorite fundraisers, benefitting the historic movie palace’s artistic, educational and community programs, as well as its ongoing preservation and restoration. The party will spill out onto Franklin Street, where there will be live music, MORE BEER, and photos with Amber, Blondie, Honey, and other entertainers, courtesy of Busch Gardens. BeerFest guests are invited to get in the spirit by dressing as their favorite Charlie’s Angels character or in a costume inspired by the movie. A limited-capacity premium sampling begins at 7:00 p.m., and tickets are $70. Grand sampling ticket-holders can enter at 8:00 p.m., and advance-sale tickets are $45. Tampa Theatre Members save $5 off advance-sale prices, and tickets are available at the historic Tampa Theatre Box Office or online ($2 convenience fee applies). Guests must be 21 years of age or older to attend BeerFest; valid Government-issued ID is required for entry.
