Going back to school can be stressful for children of all ages. Yoga can offer some simple and effective tools to relieve anxiety, enhance confidence, improve focus and academic achievement, improve sleep quality, and strengthen the body.

Yoga is a 5000 year old practice that literally translates to mean “to yoke” or “unite” the mind, body, and breath together.

Modern research is now proving that mindful breathing and slow rhythmic movements can calm the nervous system, relieve anxiety, improve focus and concentration (ADHD symptoms), and improve self-esteem and decision making. Together, these benefits can lead to better academic performance.

Children of all ages, sizes, athletic ability, and physical fitness can participate.

Yoga is also an excellent cross-training activity for athletes of all ages because it helps to prevent overuse injuries. Yo-ga can also improve muscular strength and endurance, balance, flexibility, and coordination. (Evan Longoria, LeBron James, and Danica Patrick are practicing yogis)
