MAMMA MIA! runs from April 10 through May 12, 2019. Gala Under the Stars, our Opening Night, is Friday, April 12, 2019. The evening begins at 6 PM, with a gourmet dinner and an open bar of beer and wine followed by the 8 PM performance of MAMMA MIA! Guests will enjoy a host of activities before the show, that help provide support for American Stage’s artistic and educational programming year-round. Inspired by the artisty of this year’s production of MAMMA MIA!, Chef Tyson Grant of Parkshore Grill created a special menu, Green Bench Brewery Co. crafted a unique brew, and Duncan McClellan made a one of a kind glass art piece. Gala Under the Stars is the organization’s largest fundraising event of the season. Proceeds support American Stage’s artistic and educational programming.
THE MUSICAL The magic of American Stage in the Park and the timeless pop-hit songs of ABBA come together in this up-beat musical set on a tropical Greek Island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter’s quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago. This enchanting tale of love, laughter, family and friendship features a large cast, non-stop laughs and explosive dance numbers for an unforgettable night under the stars!
ABOUT AMERICAN STAGE IN THE PARK American Stage in the Park has been a celebrated Tampa Bay tradition for over thirty years. Established in 1986, American Stage in the Park was first known for presenting Shakespeare to audiences in and around Tampa Bay. In 2006, American Stage in the Park expanded to include comedies and modern musicals presented under the stars each spring at Demens Landing Park in downtown St. Pete.

In support of American Stage, an exclusive park menu is being created specifically for American Stage in the Park by GotoSteves.com Executive Chef Chuck Bandel. A specialty beer has been crafted by Green Bench Brewing Co. in honor of 2019 American Stage in the Park. Brewed in the Helles tradition, this German style pale lager is brewed with blueberries and hibiscus, creating a refreshing taste with a hibiscus pink hue.
