TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)- A historic Gem of Tampa Bay will be moving to a new location but not too far from the current building.
For the past 52 years, Alessi Bakery has sold its baked goods out of the same building on Cypress Street in Tampa.
In a few months, the bakery will move down the street into the old Tampa Letter Carriers building, according to Alessi Bakery CEO and President Phil Alessi.
“We’ve been here 52 years and it’s old,” he said. “It worked for us.”
The old Tampa Letter Carriers building will be renovated to provide more space for the bakery to run its business.
“We’re going to be adding a lot more food, we’ll have a liquor bar,” Alessi explained. “We’ll have a coffee bar, rotisserie chicken, wood stone oven for pizzas.”
Alessi Bakery will continue operating at its location at 2909 West Cypress Street in Tampa until the new building at 3003 West Cypress Street is ready to open.
Alessi said he and staff are aiming to finish renovations by December 2024.
