HOLIDAY, Fla. (WFLA) – When Dale Curtis learned his prized Fender Bass Guitar had been stolen, his heart sunk.
“I’ve been playing pretty much my entire life,” Curtis said. “So it’s like, waited 40-years to buy it. It was pretty important to me. I have a spare, but it’s not the same as that one.”
Pasco deputies released surveillance video of the crook riding his bike down the sidewalk in front of Curtis’ home on Anclote Boulevard in Holiday. The theft happened on June 8 between 4:42 and 4:43 in the afternoon.
Curtis explains, he had just gotten off work and was inside his house fixing something to eat when the crook made his way into the garage. He came outside moments later and saw it was gone.
“Once I saw that it was gone, I started looking at my security cameras,” he said. “From the side camera, I caught him coming in.”
Pasco deputies released that surveillance video and posted it on their Facebook page in the hope of catching the thief.
Curtis plays with the band Safety Third Tampa. You can see him playing here:
Curtis used to play his guitar in the garage, but now he feels like he always has to have it closed.
“You want to be able to relax when you’re home,” he said. “You know I’d like to be able to leave the garage door open so it’s not 100 degrees in there. But lately, I’ve been closing it.”
If you have information on this guitar thief, you’re urged to give the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip Line a call at 1-800-706-2488 and reference the case number 19-023912.
