LAND O’ LAKES, Fla. (WFLA) – Monday morning just after 10 a.m. security camera footage at The Academy At The Lakes captured a 2014 dark grey Toyota Corolla. Inside, a man drives up to a young girl and tells her to “Come over here. Get in the car.”

“We want to find out who this person is and find out exactly what he was trying to do,” says Kevin Doll with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say that girl told the man she had somewhere to be and bolted into the office of her school.

“We applaud her for doing the right thing and not becoming a victim if that is in fact what this gentleman wanted to do,” says Doll.

The driver coaxing the woman to get in his car is described as a heavy-set man with dreadlocks and a black t-shirt.

“It’s not necessarily a crime, but we do want to find out in case something happens down the road, we will have his information on file,” says Doll.

Now deputies want to know where that car is located along with its driver. They’re sending out the warning to all parents.

“Guardians talk to your kids. Telling them here’s an example of something that could have gone really bad. We don’t know if that was the case, but it’s possible,” says Doll.

Academy at the Lakes says this was an unusual incident and something like this has not happened before at the school.

Anyone with information on this person is asked to call the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
