TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn released a video about his eight years in office on his Facebook page on Thursday as his time as mayor comes to a close.

In the video, Mayor Buckhorn talks about some of his big milestones, including the completion of the Tampa River Walk and hosting the College Football Playoffs and the Republican National Convention.

“I came here to pull a city up from its bootstraps from that recession that had knocked us flat. I got up every day to try and make sure I left this city in better shape than it was given to me,” Buckhorn says in the video.

“And hopefully when history judges my time here, they will say that is exactly what I did.”

Buckhorn said he will be forever grateful for the past eight years.

News Channel 8’s Keith Cate spent a day with the mayor earlier this year, riding around the city as Buckhorn reflected.

The general runoff election for the next mayor of Tampa will be held on April 23. Click here for early voting information.
