TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The majority of Tampa Bay is under a freeze warning as cold air moves through the area. A Hard Freeze Warning has been issued for Citrus County.
The warning will be in effect for a duration of eight hours from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning.
“One of the coldest nights of the season is likely Wednesday. Temperatures will be near or below freezing across much of the Tampa Bay area waking up Thursday morning,” said Storm Team 8 Meteorologist Julie Phillips. “A Hard Freeze Warning is in effect for Citrus County where we could see prolonged temps in the mid-20s.”
Temperatures in Tampa Bay could drop somewhere between 29 and 32 degrees.
The following counties will be affected:
- Hillsborough
- Pasco
- Pinellas
- Polk
- Sarasota
- DeSoto
- Highlands
- Hernando
- Sarasota
A hard freezing warning has been issued for the following areas:
- Pasco
- Hernando
A freeze watch is issued when sub-freezing temperatures are believed to be possible. These weather conditions may kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
