Police in Largo say a woman drove drunk in front of them after they specifically told her not to drive drunk.

Early Friday morning, a manager at the Applebee’s on East Bay Drive in Clearwater flagged down officers about a drunk woman at the bar.

Police spoke with 40-year-old Miosotiz Lopez, who told them she doesn’t drive and was going to walk home. According to an arrest report, the officers ordered her not to drive while speaking with her.

As police were leaving the restaurant, they saw Lopez get in her car and start driving away from them. She was then pulled over for a welfare check.

The arrest report states Lopez became uncooperative and resisted police, even trying to start her car again. Investigators say she also battered a sergeant at the scene when she pushed him while trying to get back into her car.

Officers who spoke with Lopez say they noticed a strong and obvious odor of alcohol on her breath and bloodshot, watery eyes. They also say she had slurred and mumbled speech and unsteady balance.

Police later discovered Lopez was also in possession of marijuana and pills.

She is being held in the Pinellas County Jail for driving under the influence, battery of a law enforcement officer and several drug charges.
