Tampa Bay Buccaneers players, cheerleaders and Captain Fear joined in on day of service on Monday.
Players joined Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation and Glazer Family Foundation Owner/President Darcie Glazer Kassewitz and Jabil Senior Vice President Beth Walters, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, Bucs and Jabil staff members and United Way Suncoast representatives.
The large group of volunteers spent the day renovating the Grant Park Community Center and Playground in East Tampa.
The project included a completely refurbished computer lab with new IT equipment, including a printer to assist local students with their schoolwork and help adults seeking employment.
The project also added a brand new hydroponic garden to enable residents to grow fruits and vegetables with programming through the organization Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful.
Volunteers refreshed the playground and gave the entire building a fresh coast of paint, along with new landscaping.
Volunteers also assisted with a newly-constructed teen hangout room to support the city’s “Stay and Play” program.
In the afternoon, more than a dozen Buccaneers players including punter Bryan Anger, tight end O.J. Howard, wide receiver Adam Humphries and left tackle Donovan Smith welcomed 80 local students to the park center for the reveal.
The players led students in Play 60 drills.
At the end of the day, each student was surprised with a brand-new pair of cleats.
