If April seemed unusually chilly to you, that’s because it was.

Government scientists say last month was the coldest April in more than two decades for the continental United States.

It was the coldest April since 1997 and the 13th coldest on record.

Only six states had warmer than average weather last month. 

Interestingly enough, Alaska was one of them.

While much of the United States was cold, NOAA said most of the rest of the world experienced its third warmest April on record.
