A man died late Monday night at the mall in what officials are calling a tragic accident.
According to Providence Police, the man fell off an escalator from the upper level to the food court area around 10:45 p.m. at the Providence Mall.
He sustained severe head trauma and later died from his injuries.
The victim’s identity has not been released at this time, pending the notification of his family.
Officials say the incident appears to be completely accidental and there is no indication that the victim intentionally jumped or was pushed.
