Twenty people were displaced after a fire ripped through an apartment complex in North Tampa Thursday afternoon, officials said.

Crews responded to a 2-alarm fire shortly after 2 p.m. at the North Oaks Apartments at 14550 Northwood Oaks Drive. 

Upon arrival, firefighters reported flames shooting out of the roof of one apartment unit.

The blazed was brought under control in 40 minutes. No injuries were reported.

One apartment sustained fire damage while ten others were damaged by either water or smoke. Officials said a total of 20 residents were displaced. The Red Cross is working to find them shelter.
