Charity donates protective vest to St. Pete K9 officer

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – One of St. Petersburg Police Department’s finest now has an added layer of safety, thanks to a donation.

K9 Ruger received a bullet and stab protective vest that was donated by the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s.

“Honoring those who served and sacrificed” is embroidered on the vest.

Vests like the one that was donated to K9 Ruger are valued between $1,744 and $2,283.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501c(3) charity located in East Taunton, MA 
whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other 
assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the 
United States. 

Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.  provided over 3,000 protective vests in 50 states, through private and corporate donations, at a value of $5.7 million.
