Tampa police are searching for a teen suspected of breaking into several homes in the West Tampa area.

Police say the teen often enters through unlocked windows.

The young man, estimated to be 16 or 17-years-old, has been spotted on video several times, riding a bicycle and wearing a backpack.

He is suspected in nine burglaries in July, including five on July 22.

In several of the burglaries, the suspect enters through an unlocked window.

In another, he enters through an unlocked garage door.

The suspect has stolen cash, credit cards and checks.

Some of the homes were ransacked, but police do not yet know if anything was taken.

A homeowner say the suspect and spoke to him briefly and reported to police that he spoke Spanish.

The teenager is described as having an afro, wearing light-colored shorts and black tennis shoes. He wears a backpack while riding a mountain-style bicycle.

The suspect is seen in video riding the bicycle approaching a residence in the 400 block of North Tampania Avenue on July 22.

It appears he recognizes that there is a camera at the home and quickly turns around.

Moments later, though not seen on video, he rode into a driveway on the same block, entered a home through an unlocked window and took several items of value from the home.

Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of the teen suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS, or report anonymously online.
