Children attending a day camp at Oak Park School in southeastern Sarasota had to shelter in place after a chemical reaction on Wednesday.
The Sarasota County Fire Department was dispatched to the school, located at 7285 Proctor Road, around 11:30 a.m. for the report of a structure fire.
Sarasota County Emergency services initially believed a chlorine gas cloud formed.
Children at the camp were told to shelter in place after being moved a safe distance away from the cloud.
Hazmat units eventually determined it was Freon gas cloud.
The building was ventilated and there were no injuries.
