MIAMI LAKES, Fla. (WFLA/WTVJ) – Snakes are pretty common here in Florida, but how do you get rid of a big one?

Apparently… with a big stick.

Someone from the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Venom Response Unit answered the call Wednesday and brought the right tool, a pole with a curved end.

After all, you don’t want to get too close to a 7-foot long red-tailed boa constrictor!

Officials found the massive snake hiding in a grassy area and pulled it out in the open where it could be captured and stuffed in a bag.

Boas are not native to the area and speculation is it was someone’s pet.
