A fugitive Sarasota man accused of killing another man from Sarasota was captured Friday after more than a week on the run, authorities said.

Daniel Davenport, 31, is believed to be the suspect in the death of 55-year-old Sergio Hostins whose body was found near a home being remodeled in Naples on Oct. 9.

According to deputies, Davenport and Hostins met online and were together on October 4, inside Hostins’ apartment located at 6011 Medici Court.

Results from an autopsy showed Hostins was murdered, but Collier authorities could not identify his body as his fingerprints were not in their database. Deputies said a green Subaru Forester was seen at the home where the body was recovered.

Collier sheriff’s detectives later learned Hostins was reported missing in Sarasota Monday along with his green Subaru Forester.

The detectives also recovered latent fingerprint evidence at the home, which identified Davenport as a possible suspect.

Detectives in Sarasota interviewed witnesses and seized evidence from two homes in the area that confirmed Davenport’s connection with Hostin’s death, the agency said.

On Oct. 11, the agency appealed for the public’s help in finding Davenport and a week later, Davenport was arrested in Orlando.

He will be booked into Orange County Jail awaiting extradition back to Sarasota County.

Further details were not immediately available.
