Hernando County Fire Rescue responded to a fatal house fire called in by a neighbor on Laredo Avenue on Thursday.
Initial reports from neighbors were that no one was home because the owners’ car was not at the residence.
The first units arrived on scene within four minutes to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home.
As crews began fighting the fire, additional crews began a rapid primary search of the home for potential trapped residents.
The deceased victim was located inside the home.
Crews brought the fire under control within minutes.
The fire is currently under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshal’s office.
