UPDATE: The inside northbound lane of I-75 has been reopened. The outside lane will be closed overnight.

Overpass Road has been reopened, as well.

PREVIOUS STORY: WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. (WFLA)- A truck towing a crane struck an overpass, closing the northbound lanes of I-75 in Pasco County Monday evening.

Sgt. Steve Gaskins with Florida Highway Patrol reports the truck was traveling northbound on I-75 when the crane hit the bridge at Overpass Rd.

Gaskins confirmed that Overpass Rd is closed in both directions and the northbound lanes of I-75 have been shut down as well.

Sgt. Gaskins anticipates a lengthy closure of the roads as engineers assess the damage to the bridge which is believed to be severe.

The driver of the truck, 60-year-old Aubrey Reed of Brownwood, Texas was not injured.

Gaskins reported that Reed was cited with having an over-height load.
