PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) –  A Clearwater armored car employee is accused of pointing a gun at a woman during a road rage incident. It happened on the evening of Feb. 27, near 48th Avenue North and 52nd Street North in St. Petersburg.

An arrest affidavit says Dean Conforti, 44, stopped his car in front of the victim. The affidavit says he got out of his car and pointed a handgun at the victim’s windshield while yelling. The victim told responding deputies she was in fear for her life.

She was able to give Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputies a description of the man, the gun and the license tag of the car he was driving. She was also able to describe the uniform he was wearing.

Later, deputies arrested Conforti, who is an employee at Dunbar Armored. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on an aggravated assault charge. He has since bonded out.

Victim Rachelle Muise, of St. Petersburg, shared her story with News Channel 8.

How the incident unfolded

Muise was on her way home from work Sunday. “I noticed that there was a car that cut me off,” she said. “I was kind of surprised so I honked at the guy, and he slammed on his brakes. And so I flashed my brights at him.”

She said the suspect then slammed on his brakes again. Muise was on the phone with a friend and remarked that the suspect was driving like a maniac.

Conforti got behind the victim, she said, and fishtailed, moving back and forth.

That’s when Muise decided to call her husband.

The suspect then pulled in front of her and stopped his car, trapping her. She saw him get out of the car.

“I noticed that I thought he had a cellphone in his hand. And I’m like, that’s too big to be a cell phone, so I looked and it was a gun,” Muise said.

“I told my husband. I said, ‘He’s got a gun.’ I started screaming, ‘He’s got a gun.’ And he turned it sideways kind of and raised it up pointed it directly at me.”

Conforti was standing in front of Muise’s car, the victim told News Channel 8.

“So I’m like freaking out and I told, I was yelling at my husband, ‘Call the police. Call the police,’” Muise said.

The suspect then took off. Muise saw his plate and told her husband.

She told News Channel 8 Wednesday that she feared for her life. “I absolutely did because he had my car blocked in,” the victim said.

Muise said she won’t honk at another driver. She also takes a different route home.

“I hope he loses access to his gun, I mean, that’s for sure,” she told News Channel 8.
