Students in a second-grade class in Texas are getting a break from homework.
Brandy Young sent a letter home to the parents in the Godley Independent School District. The letter announced her new homework policy.
Young said research has been unable to prove that homework improves student performance so she said she would not be formally assigning homework this year.
She also suggested that instead of homework, parents spend their evenings eating dinner as a family, reading together, playing outside and getting their child to bed early.
