The City of Tampa in partnership with the Tampa Bay Lightning will dye the Garrison Channel bright, “Bolts Blue” on Saturday, June 6, 2015 for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Tampa Water and Stormwater Department crews, the same teams who dye the Hillsborough River Kelly green for St. Patrick’s Day, will take on the task of dyeing the channel adjacent to the Amalie Arena bright, electric blue in support of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Dyeing of the channel will occur at approximately 5 p.m.
“Tampa does a better job dyeing our river green for St. Patrick’s Day than Chicago does. We want to show Blackhawks fans how it’s done, and what better way to do that than dyeing the channel ‘Bolts Blue’ outside the Amalie Arena,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “We want the Stanley Cup back in Tampa. Let’s go Bolts!”
The Garrison Channel is bounded by Harbour Island Bridge to the west and Beneficial Bridge to the east. The dye is potable water grade, non-toxic, and biodegradable.
The Tampa Bay Lightning will reimburse the city for all costs associated with the dyeing.
