Do you want to see the Stanley Cup Finals here in Tampa, but don’t have tickets?
Be prepared to fork out a big chunk of change.
A quick check on Ebay found that bids were at $664.75 for a pair of tickets to see the Tampa Bay Lightning play the Chicago Blackhawks in game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final at Amalie Arena.
Four tickets to game 2 with seats in section 114, row 1 were listed for $43,210 as a “Buy It Now” option on Ebay.
Resale tickets are also offered for sale by Ticketmaster on the Amalie Arena website. We did a quick check on the afternoon of June 2 and found that prices for a pair of game 2 tickets range from $475 to $3,305.
Resale tickets from the Amalie Arena website are different than those sold on Ebay because they are authentic tickets that are verified by Ticketmaster.
Ticketmaster suggests considering a few things to avoid buying counterfeit or fraudulent tickets-
- Buy tickets from trusted sources. Get tickets at the team’s box office, Ticketmaster, or NHL Ticket Exchange – the only Official Ticket Exchange of the NHL.
- Avoid buying tickets from unofficial sites. Ticket fraud is real, and there’s real risk whenever you buy from online auction sites, classified sites, and other ticket resale sites that aren’t backed by the NHL.
- Never buy tickets from scalpers on the street or near the venue. There’s no way to know what you’re getting from scalpers – you could end up with tickets that are fake or stolen.
- Buy tickets to sold-out games safely. Do resale right and shop Ticketmaster and NHL Ticket Exchange to get Ticketmaster-verified tickets from other fans who can’t make it. Ticketmaster-verified means you’re not just getting someone’s old ticket – you get a brand-new one reissued just for you.
- Don’t post pics of your tickets online. People can use pictures of your tickets to make fakes, so be careful when showing off about scoring great seats.
Authorities recommend that you look at the ticket for signs that it is a fake. These signs include misplaced punctuation, misspellings and other things that are usually on a ticket, like a seat, section and row number. Many authentic tickets will also have a hologram.
