POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – The Polk County medical examiner conducted autopsies on Peggy Morey and Kenneth Bever Wednesday morning, the medical examiner’s office manager told 8 On Your Side.

Friends have identified Morey and Bever as the victims of this week’s homicides in Winter Haven.

The office manager told 8 On Your Side the medical examiner’s office could not provide any more information as their deaths are under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Morey’s friends organized a vigil at Lakeland Pulse Tuesday night.

“It helped relieve some of the tension that I had because there were so many loving friends,” said Joseph Mutzer, Morey’s friend.

“I think she would have really appreciated it more so than anything else. She would not have wanted people to cry about it, you know what I mean? She’d want you to move on with life and get through it,” said Richard Dunn, owner of Lakeland Pulse.

Melissa Lumpuy was Morey’s hair stylist for 16 years.

“There’s things that people tell their hairdressers that they don’t tell everyone else so I felt very close to her,” she said. “She didn’t know a stranger. She was the first person to say hi or give you a hug. Every time I gave her a haircut, she’d always give me a hug goodbye and she gave the best hugs.”

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office will not release the victims’ names, citing Marsy’s Law.

Stanley Mossburg, 35, is accused of using a knife to kill two people inside a Winter Haven home, according to the sheriff’s office.

He told reporters Tuesday that God told him to kill people in order to build an army for an “angels vs. demons war.”

He’s also accused of killing Christopher Short at a Greeneville, TN laundromat in early October.

“I couldn’t believe it. I mean, I was like, you’re joking. This isn’t real,” said Wayne Short, Short’s uncle.

Christopher Short’s father died from a heart attack the day after his son’s body was found.

“The stress just was too much for him, over the taking of his youngin’,” said Wayne Short.

Mossburg was arrested Tuesday morning in a Winter Haven home after firing several rounds at police, Sheriff Grady Judd said.
