Don’t tell the pirates, but WFLA News Channel 8’s Lila Gross snuck into the warehouse where krewes are prepping for Gasparilla.

Last minute touches are going on the floats and beads are bagged to toss to you during the parade.

The Gasparilla festival was actually created by a newspaper editor, not scurvy swashbucklers.

Ye Mystic Krewe was the first to create the mock pirate invasion. It was so popular the event became a Tampa staple.

The Ye Mystic Krewe will make up 11 of the 65 floats at the 2019 Gasparilla parade.

The seadog captain is ready to welcome his Hearties onto Bayshore Blvd. and hopefully no one will have to walk the plank.
