A school security officer was arrested late Wendesday, accused of having a sexual encounter with a 6-year-old girl at a Tampa elementary school.
Malcolm Curtis Tillman, 22, worked at Booker T. Washington Elementary School in Hillsborough County as a security guard.
Tampa police were notified about the case on January 10.
“This case is particularly troubling because you have someone in a positiion of authority and that’s a very young child. So we’re happy to make the case as quickly as we did,” said Steve Hegarty, Tampa police spokesman.
Tillman has denied the allegation, but admitted that he was alone with the child in a classroom.
The police investigation turned up physical evidence from the classroom that supported the girl’s account.
When DNA evidence was processed and implicated Tillman a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Tillman’s neighbors saw him being arrested, but didn’t know why.
“That’s gross that’s gross. Messing with a 6-year-old child. He got some hard times coming,” neighbor Eric Frazier said.
Tillman’s bond is set at $250,000. At last check, he was still in jail.
